The PowerBuilder Users LinkedIn Group is a great place to post information and questions to the PB Community. Thinking of choosing Appeon as a web solution for your application? One of the latest discussions on the PB Users LinkedIn Group is about using Appeon to convert a PB11.5 application into a browser-based application. Find out what developers think of Appeon: level of support, ease of use and as opposed to a Citrix solution.

  • How DHL moved a PowerBuilder Application to the Web in 3 Months

The application name is ISC+. It was originally Hong Kong local billing application with 5 main modules namely, Invoice, FCR, Costing, Cashier and Notification. It is purely a PowerBuilder application using PFC framework, created originally with PowerBuilder 6 and now migrated to PowerBuilder 11.

The original Client/Server architecture made it hard to deploy to other regions in Asia. We look at other approaches and compared them with Appeon. It turns out that Appeon reduces enormous development efforts to convert the original PowerBuilder code to the Web.

It took us only 3 months to complete the entire Web conversion project. More than 400 users in different regions in Asia are using this new Web system. Out of all the various benefits we get from Appeon Web solution, two are most critical for us: ease of deployment and high-end features such as load balancing, fail-over, etc. Appeon staff provides excellent support during our system development in daily operation. We appreciate very much.
